Northern Travelogues will be shown as part of the Aleksanteri Conference 2023 organised by the University of Helsinki 25.-27.10.2023. This year's theme is "Decolonizing Space in the Global East".

SEPTEMBER 2023

Northern Travelogues will be shown at Kratovo International Festival of Ethnological Documentary Films on Thursday September 28th. The festival was established in 2012 and is organised by the Macedonian Ethnological Society in Skopje and the City Museum of Kratovo.

AUGUST 2023

The soundtrack for Northern Travelogues is now available on Spotify. The wonderful music was created by composer and orchestrator Joaquin Garcia.

Northern Travelogues will be screened at Universität Hamburg in Germany on Tuesday May the 30th. The screening is part of the Ethnological cinema series.

Northern Travelogues will be screened on Friday November the 25th as the opening film of the Eyes and Lenses Ethnographic Review in Warsaw.

Northern Travelogues will be screened on Saturday April the 9th at the Astro Theatre in Iqaluit as part of the favourites from Nunavut International Film Festival.

Northern Travelogues has been selected for German International Ethnographic Film Festival in Göttingen 26.-29.5.2022. The festival was founded in 1998 and acts as a successful forum for filmmakers and anthropologists from around the world.

Northern Travelogues will have its Canadian premiere at the Nunavut International Film Festival 21.-27.2.2022. The festival program will be available at www.taku.tv

The Cello documentary project receives a second development grant from the Finnish Film Foundation. The film is produced by Oona Saari and Jouko Aaltonen from  Illume Oy.

Northern Travelogues screening at Verdensteatret in Tromsø on December 2nd. The screening is part of the Polar Vin og Viten-series and is arranged in cooperation with the Polar Museum of Tromsø.

Northern Travelogues will be shown as part of EthnoKino Film Festival in Bern 17.-20.6.2021. On Sunday 20th Kira will participate in a panel discussion about working with archives in film organised in cooperation  with Museum Cerny Bern and Lichtspiel / Kinemathek Bern.

Northern Travelogues will have its French premiere at the Festival de films "Pêcheurs du Monde" 22.3.- 5.4.2021.  The festival's 13th edition will be online. Northern Travelogues will be shown in the main competition category.

Northern Travelogues has been selected for Documentary Competition at the 12th Northern Character International Film Festival held in Murmansk  and Online 18.-22.11.2020. 

 

 

 

OCTOBER 2020

 

 

Kira will be in the jury for scientific docs during Pärnu International Film Festival in Estonia 17-25.10.2020. The festival is the oldest of its kind in the Baltic Countries and is about to happen for the 34th time in 2020. Last year Northern Travelogues won the prize for the Best Scientific Documentary.

Northern Travelogues will be shown in Estonia as part of Pärnu Film Festival's Summer Retrospective. The screening will be on July 23rd at 18.00. in Heimtali Museum. You are welcome!

Knud Rasmussen Society in Copenhagen screens Northern Travelogues and Sakari Pälsi's Travelling in the Arctic as part of their focus on the Bering Strait cultures. The screening will be on February 2nd in Kraemers hus.
